Privacy Notice
This site collects as little as it can: your email address, and only if you choose to give it.
Who We Are
This site is run by Harish Gopal, the author of Riding the Ratchet, who is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach him at hello@ridingtheratchet.com.
What We Collect, and Why
If you ask for the Four Rooms map, we collect your email address, and whether you ticked the box to be invited as an early reader. We use it to send you the map and a short note each quarter about the book and the method. We do not ask for your name, age, school or anything else, and we do not sell or share your address.
We rely on your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by writing to us, and we will delete your address.
Who Processes It
Email addresses are held by our email provider, Kit (kit.com), which sends our emails on our behalf and may store data outside the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates under appropriate safeguards. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to protect the site from abuse.
Cookies and Tracking
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If we add visitor statistics, we will use a tool that does not need cookies and will update this notice.
The free Audit keeps your answers in your own browser’s storage, so that you can come back to them, together with a short dated summary of each finished Audit, so that you can compare one quarter with the next. None of this is ever sent to us or to anyone else. Choose ‘Start again’ in the Audit to clear your answers, ‘Delete my saved history’ to clear the dated summaries, or clear your browser’s site data to remove everything.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Your Rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, you can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you, or object to its use. Write to hello@ridingtheratchet.com. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection regulator; in the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Younger Readers
The book is written for readers from about fifteen. If you are under thirteen, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up for you.
